On 29 November 2007, the UK Defence Forum jointly organised a "welcome home" event for troops from 12 Mechanized Brigade returning from Afghanistan.

Mike Penning MP, himself a former Grenadier Guard, welcomed troops to the event which was also supported by the Army All-Party Parliamentary Group.

Secretary of State for Defence Des Browne MP welcomed the troops, who were also given a tour of the House of Parliament.
